I'm getting ready to install new tires and can't decide whether use to 305's or 285's. Any thoughts ?

Thanks
Mark

I assume you want to mount your new tires on stock rims. If this is true, go with the 285's. I have heard of someone mounting 305's on the stock 6.5 inch wide rims, but even the 285's are much wider that the manufacturers recommend for these wheels. I just got my 285's a couple of weeks ago, and had to trim just a little bit of the moulding under the front bumper off to keep them from rubbing, other than that they fit perfect and look great. I bet the 305's would rub even more areas (like the fender wells or stabilizer bars), but I cannot say for certain.

Just put a new set of 285/75/16 Bridestone Duler a/t on my 04 2500hd cclb 2wd. Looks great running about 55 pounds pressure to get ride back and trimmed about 1/2 inch off bottom inner tire well. Rader check running 2mgh faster then speedo says all the way through legal range.

I have a set of 295 BFG KO's on my truck. They look nice and ride well. Just a little expensive.

I have a set of nittos 295/70/17 and they look great I don't know if you could go much bigger 295s are a tight fit.

I put a set of 295 BFG AT KO's on mine and had to trim the wheel wells a good bit, even with having my torsions bars turned up. 305's would probably rub real bad.

What kinda mileage are all of you seeing with the larger tires?
