6.6/6.5

I am preparing to replace the noisy, oil burning 6.5 engine in my '95 pickup. While searching the Forum archives for information about the cooling system, I haven't been very successful in determining a course of action to be taken during the engine replacement. Should the existing aluminum core radiator be replaced? If so, where can the recommended replacement be purchased or is it a custom product by a radiator shop? I will be adding the DSG oil cooler package and the high output waterpump and dual thermostat water manifold. Are there any other suggestions/recommendations for modifications relative to the cooling system?

Thank you in advance for any assistance or responses that are offered.

GM dealers can sell you a replacement aluminum radiator for your truck for about $700. However, most radiator repair shops can rebuild your existing radiator for less money. New plastic end-tanks are available, and they can clean/recondition the aluminum core.

I recommend the newer 21" 9-blade Duramax fan and a kennedydiesel.com thermostatic fan-clutch. :)
