I just filled up at the local Shell station ($3.19/gal, thank you very much)
and they had a sign on the pump that said "Low Sulpher Fuel, Prohibited for use on 2007 and later vehicles"

What is changing on the 07's? Something to do with ultra-low sulpher fuel or new emission standards?

2007 is supposed to bring in the particulate traps. Higher sulpher content creates a higher particulate level, putting a heavier demand on the trap. Engine-wise, there isn't any concern.

But....Who knows what's coming. With DC (the city) undecided what to do with fuel costs, and talk of suspending EPA demands, this "2007 requirement" could be delayed for an undetermined period.

I saw the same thing yesterday at a Murphy USA in Georgia. I questioned the attendent, who barely knew what diesel fuel was, much less anything about the sticker on the pump. My question is, what WILL be legal to run in the 07s. By the way, I payed $2.89 per gallon. Never thought I would say that is a good price.

I just saw the same sticker this afternoon in Peachtree City, GA. I'm glad I have a 06 LBZ. Ed

The 07 Classics which GM is producing now, I have one on order, will burn the low sulfur diesel and also the ultra low. It is also the same truck as the 06 LBZ. The new style 07 scheduled for production after Jan. 1st will be required to use the ultra low only, because of added emission controls. If anyone has any other info, please post it.

Curious, how much more will the 07 low emmission engines will cost, Duramax, $troke and Doge Cummins. The medium and hd truck engines are takeing a $3000 to $6500 uptick in price for the new emmissions package and redesign. bob................

From every thing I have read the Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel will have a lower BTU content per gallon. This will cause lower Miles per gallon in our trucks. It will cost more to make the Ultra low sulfer diesel and it will have less lubricity.

My question is for how long will Low Sulfer diesel be available? I know eventually we will have to burn the new fuel. How many years before Ultra low sulfer is the only choice?

Beginning to look like diesel trucks are going to get too expensive to operate. It will probably cost as much as kerosene. Anyone gone down to the feed store and buy some? Very expensive! Sorry......got my s & L mixed up
