Through information gleaned from this page, I finally solved my hard start problems (somewhat by accident as well). I replaced the glow plugs, gp controller and battery terminal improvements. No luck. Replaced my 6 year old interstates with two new optima red tops, still no luck although it did help. I figured my starter was bad, (I just didn't do anything about it until I got stranded turkey hunting last week). I replaced my 6 year old starter (lucky me, NAPA honored the warranty with no receipt) and now it starts within 1-2 seconds of cranking. I never noticed the slow degradation of my starter over time. I was guessing I had a fuel line issue.....well, not yet atleast.

Bueno!

Same impression, had a 6.2 that wouldn't start hot, but that ended up being the whole problem. It is funny how it ends up sounding like it's cranking ok, but really be dragging significantly.
