Can anyone tell me if my '93 rear axle (10.5" FF) will fit a 2001 1 ton van?

Thanks!

IIRC, 93 is drum brake and the 2001 has disc. My 94 has drum and is supposed to be 13 x 3 but due to a rear end accident it was replaced (by dealer) with a 92 and has 13 x 2 1/2 and there is a noticable loss in braking when towing. If I could I would replace with 2000 or newer to get the disc brakes.

The 2001 is a Diesel, so I'm guessing it is "Classic" style, not "Silverado" style. Did all 2001's have disks or just the new style? I told the guy it was drums and he didn't seem concerned, so I'm guessing he has drums too. Could he swap his brakes disk or drum, 2 1/2" or 3 1/2" or whatever onto this axle?

None of my work vans have disc brakes 99-03. The 2001 GMC 1 ton has drums and it is a 6.5 TD 14 bolt.

From what I have learned, you can swap 2 1/2 to 3 drum but drum to disc doesn't work. Different housing design between disc housing and drum housing.

check the pics out at this snowmobile sled forum link. You might have to scroll to the bottom of the page, if it doesn't go to the exact post.

Looks like the shock mounts are a little different...
