GM-8 Compressor options

Need information on GM-8 compressor options (larger) and who can do em?

Get on the 'net and do a search for just about every turbo shop you can find. Eventually you'll get some information of what can and can't be done. But, most likely you'll get the story of "lets just replace it with something else".

But, the biggest problem with the GM-X series turbo is the smaller exhaust housing, needs more flow going through it, not necessarily pushing more air via a more efficient compressor blade and or matching compressor.

this sort of pertains to this subject. would it be feasable to swap turbine housings from a GM-X to the newer IHI unit from the 6.6 Duramax?

I guess this would fall under the "just replace it" comment made earlier. Sometimes upgrading is the better option.

Now as far as compressor upgrades. most turbo shops can machine the housing to accept a larger blade. might be cheaper than finding a replacement or paying for an aftermarket upgrade.
