Here is a linkto a guy who put a 3.9L Cummins engine in a 1967 Bronco.
Click on the Cummins button to info. I for one think this pretty cool since I also have an Early Bronco and have the though of a Diesel in it would make the gas thirsty Bronco into a fuel effient off road, mountian rambling, lets go hunting all around Montana cool kind of outfit. He get 28 MPG mixed driving.:D I also ran across a fellow who put the same engine in a 1989 Chevy 1500 and he also get 28 MPG.

I ALMOST went that route with the Wagoneer, but talked to a couple people that had swapped those into other Jeeps and they said that they vibrated horribly. Probably would have fit a whole lot easier than the 6.5.

I'm currently building an 83 Scrambler it's going to have a 3.9 cummins 700R4/NP205 setup. Can post some pics soon.

daryl - why an auto in the Scrambler? Nothing wrong with it, just curious as to the choice of that over a manual.

the later model cummins 3.9's (post 88???) are internally balanced, and aparently shake much less than the earlier models.i think they would be a better candidate for a swap.
