My Hurricane Katrina truck (2004 Kodiak C4500) has LB7 and Allison tranny. With 30ft boom and tool box, I can get over 12mpg, and average around 11 mpg at 60 mph. I shudder to think what the same vehicle gets with the 8.1 or Ford's V-10!!!
I think it's about time you posted a picture of this puppy!

Cool! What are your RPMs, in high gear, at 60mph?

looks to be about 2250 rpm

Thats good mileage considering the short gears. Would it be possible to increase tire diameter and increase mileage further?
I'd love to pull boats with a unit like this, but need the 'cruising' speed to be at least 68mph at 2200 rpm.

I think ??? I have 4.88's. With a 19.5 tire. I haven't looked into at all whether I can get a larger diameter tire for the 19.5 rims. Be expensive. But, can be an interesting proposition.

Changed my mind after driving truck tonight. This vehicle NEEDS the 4.88 and 19.5 combo it already has. It is a DOG off of the line. I think it is 15 sec 0-60mph.
What my truck needs and 06&07 may have is 6 speed allison with two overdrives. That with a bit lower rear-end (low 5's) would increase performance all the way around!
