HELP -- Low brake pedal???

Hi,

My 2004.5 DMax has 35.5K on the clock. A few hund miles before the warranty expires.

I am noticing that I have to apply my brakes with a lot more effort than before. The pedal is going down probably a little more than half way.

I figured I need brakes. I'm not scraping the pads. My mechanic tells me that my pedal pressure should be good regardless of how worn out my pads are.

Could there be another problem here?

Check for rotor/pad contamination - like an oil/ATF film, tire shine spray detailing, or road dust etc. Check the brake fluid and PS pump fluid levels. Check the various rubber brake line hoses for signs of bulging/expanding when the pedal is depressed.
