Have a power washing business and am using a '94 Ford E250 GVWR 8550. With 300 gallons of water, the pump, engine, hose reel, etc and two people the weight is right around 8550 lbs. The Ford has a 300 4.9 liter straight 6 with an O/D Tranny. Averages 10 mpg consistently. 3.73 rear end gears. Specs are 265ft-lbs at 2000 rpm and 145 hp. Standard length van.

What kind of mpg can be expected with a 95 Chevy 6.5 N/A Diesel Van with similar loading? Real world numbers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Sal

I would figure with that kind of weight in town you'd see 14-15mpg.

On the highway would probably be around 17 at best with the weight in OD, depending on the rear gear ratio and the speed driven.

Either way you'll notice a large boost in performance as compared to the 6 gasser.

Go for it. I would add a set of firestone air bags to the rear. you'll need that. This will allow you to run loaded and light
