just a curiosity question ... is there a differerence between the cam in a 90's 6.2 and a 94' 6.5TD

Physically they will interchange.
Call your favorite GM parts counter and ask them to run the numbers and see if the part numbers are the same. GM does not stock two of the same part under different numbers so if the numbers dont jive the cams are different.

Ok here is the full skinny
88-91 6.2 and 92-96 6.5 use a number 14066308 cam shaft.
I did not bother to go back to the earlier 6.2's or to the real late 6.5's
But its fair to say that you are good to go with any swaps in the years covered.

Robyn's part # (14066308) is good, and is applicable from 1982 to 2000 in GM vehicles, according to GM's publications. No other part number is currently listed, for any production year of the 6.2 or 6.5. Guess that's one thing they got right the first time.

The only place I know of that has a different cam. Some are using this cam though I have no ideal if there is any gain in power or mpg. Not even sure why they have this different cam?
