View Full Version : belt conversion
Here's another one of my many questions. Can I put a serp belt conversion from a 6.5 onto my 6.2 as long as I use the reverse water pump and pump plate

Yes, you'll be changing pretty much all the accessories with it, including power steering.
You've got it right in that it will require the reverse rotation water pump and matching plate.
Thanks thats all I need to know to get under way
I did one for a project rig and its a snap. watch ebay and you can get good deals from time to time. I got my set up with all the accessories for $200

IIRC the Diesel Depot can be spotted on ebay selling complete "kits" so to speak to convert 6.2's over to serpentine. They were selling the 96+ setup that keeps the alternator and A/C stuff on the same side as it is now.

I'm going to have a few questions along these lines too. I'm in the middle of my conversion right now, with a huge pile of junkyard parts. I did not know about the pump plate, and thus ended up welding in and re-drilling a whole bunch of holes, but it worked.
My question/problem many of the bolts and studs from the 6.2 are not able to hold the 6.5 accessories (93 3500 setup). I'm looking at a huge assortment of bolts from the local distrubutor, and maybe some all-thread studs right now.
Has anyone else run into this?
