Got a noise from the rear-end that sounds like a carrier/side bearing. I'd like to change it myself, but have no experience setting the gear lash / pinion depth and do not have the equipment. Can anyone recommend the best place to get the parts and test equipment, as well as a "how-to" tutorial so I get it right?

If all you do is replace bearings, there is no setup. Replace and retorque. The setup won't change unless you get defective parts. Measure before and after to confirm a solid replacement. Rearend service procedures can be found in the GM service manual ( www.helminc.com ), and online at www.alldatadiy.com .
