The stock Jeep tank was vented to the charcoal canister (didn't get it when I bought the vehicle). Looking for some ideas for venting the tank now. Should I look for a small charcoal canister that I can mount somewhere (Good Lord, don't know where I would put it), or...? The tank has two vent valves (they close in the event of a roll-over) - the lines were connected to a "t" then it ran to the charcoal canister. But if I do a canister, don't they have to be vented somehow also?

The charcoal will do nothing for #2, other than get plugged up the first time liquid hits it. Diesel is MUCH less volitile than gas, so there's just no advantage, EPA or otherwise. OEM GM Diesels are vented to atmosphere via the filler cap. Some folks have even drilled a hole in the cap and have no vac/pressure. The OEM cap is vented at ~2 PSI, or ~2" Hg.

I suggest leaving your vent system intact, sans charcoal. A canister may even condense hot fuel vapor into liquid. Put the tube end somewhere it won't suck up anything, and just use a filter on the end, like a PCV filter. You could also use a dessicant to reduce water condensation in the tank. In the event you get sideways, or upside down, the check closures will still do their job.

Thanks! I'll just use one of those 99 cent plastic fuel filters, like I use on my diff vents.
