View Full Version : excessive sway when maneuvering

My dad just bought a new 2006 2500HD, 4wd, reg cab, 6.0 liter gas. It has the factory Bridgestone tires on it. When maneuvering at highway speeds, there is excessive sway in the rear end - it fells like the tires have about 15 psi in them (though the problem is there with 50 psi or 80 psi).

When the truck is parked, if I push sideways by the tailgate, the truck seems to rock excessively on the tires - like the sidewalls have too much flex.

Dad's 2000 2500HD did not have this problem with factory tires, and my 2004 2500HD with Michelins does not have this problem.

Has anyone else encountered this?

At 80 psi, there shouldn't be a lot of sidewall flex....

Otherwise, there are rear sway bars available for these trucks that help...

I just ordered a set of these sway bars for my wife's 04 2500 Suburban for just the reason mentioned in the first post. I hope they help along with the new Bilsteins. I'd like to order just the front for my 3500, but you gotta buy them in pairs.
