I researched this and found information for the suburbans, but not for the pickup, although I assumed it to be very, very similar. What specs would my '98 K1500 6.5 4x4 be running? I'm looking for axles, gear ratios, and confirmation that it's a 4L80E. Thank you for any help!

Look into your glove box, there should be sticker full of codes, these are regular production option codes aka RPO codes, these are very spesific for each truck and google knows explanation for them.

Transmission recognation is very simple, look pictures from http://www.nastyz28.com/transid.html and look under your truck, in 99 its 4l80e or 4l60e but when you see transmission oil pan you know it.

I won't have the truck here for another week hehe. Got it off ebay and my dad is flying up with my sister in that area to settle her into college and then drive the truck back down. In case you're wondering she goes to college to St. Olaf in Northfield, Minnesota. The truck is near Des Moines, Iowa.
