is it possible to forgo a whole oil cooling line replacement by cutting the rubber hoses and connecting them back to the hardlines with a compression or flare to barbed fitting? would it also be propper to purchase and install a new oil cooler in a different location ( say a long cooler under the bumper or inside the bumper to expose the rediator to more direct airflow)? or would any modification upset fuel mileage in an adverse way? also how well do the oil coolers work? is their any pressure/temp. gain by using a larger cooler? would behind the radiator work as well as in front? is there any justification for worry that radiator temp would crack the heads in a super hot engine when the stat opens?

Because they are leaking at the oil cooler? One mod on these connector is to split the Alum. crimp and use hose clamps. Reports have been made that clamps alone worked also. Now if oil lines look bad,R&R.

sir I do not tow heavy on a regular basis. if i do it is usually around the 14000 mark, minus drag. i would like to move or change the oil cooler to open up the radiator. i have seen several horizontal style coolers and thought changing might be a benefit. removing the short air-damn and placing it there.
and response to the leak it is just the crimp. i will definately try the hose clamps. thenk you.
