I have a steel trailer that is getting surface rust and is ready for a repaint. My plans are to repaint it black. I'm looking for opinions on the best paint to use. I plan to sand it first but I'm sure I will still have some rusty areas. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

I'm a big fan of Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator: http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=1130&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=373&iSubCat=374&iProductID=1130

And their Chassis Black Paint: http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=128&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=400&iSubCat=402&iProductID=128

I prefer the Rust Encapsulator to things like POR-15, much easier to use which translates to a better chance of it lasting. The Chassis Black is a tough, durable paint with a nice satin finish - which I prefer to gloss for things like frames, trailers, and such.

I recently repainted my steel trailer. I wire brushed the loose rust that I could get at. I did consider the POR-15 and the Eastwood stuff, but it was kinda' pricey. So I used two coats of the Rustoleum primer, and then two coats of red paint. (It was black before.) All I can say is that it looks brand new. It's been about two months and there some areas where the rust has pushed the paint up, but nothing has broken through yet. I have not put the car on the trailer since repainting, so don't know if the paint will lift from the sticky tires, but, I'll deal with it then.
