Injection Pump Driveshaft Plunger

Converting a 6.5 from a application where it replaced 6.2 to a 6.5 TD with DS-4 pump. Noticed the spring loaded plunger that was part of the mechanical pumps driveshaft isn't there in the DS-4 pump and that the end of the DS-4 driveshaft was configured differently. Does the DS-4 driveshaft reach out to touch the tab on the back of the water pump mounting plate like the plunger on the mechanical pump did?

The DS4 doesn't have the springed shock plunger. I don't think the DS4 will touch the opposite tab on the timing cover/water pump cover, it's just free on them.

It did look like it wouldn't reach out to the tab, was curious though. Thanks
