EGR vs. Engine Heat Up Time?

I recently added a 4" turbo-back exhaust and previously my EGR valve was unplugged. This morning (temp=41F), it took considerably longer for the engine to warm up. I guess this is to be expected. Has anyone experienced this? If so, what did you do, if anything?
