Hello All:

I just discovered that my lift pump has been disconnected from the power for the last year and I have not noticed any difference in starting etc.

About a year ago, I disconnected the power from the lift pump in order to troubleshoot a starting problem, ( needed new FSD), and forgot to re connect it. Have not noticed any difference in starting.

Is the lift pump really needed. I repalced it anyway because it did not work even when connected. No noticable difference except that fuel now comes out of the bleeder hose.

Any comments?

heh, you got lucky.

The IP can pull fuel from the tank by itself, but at the cost of performance and increased duty cycle on the FSD (will run hotter).

You'll want that working!

Yes, thank you. I replaced the lift pump with a new one and checked to make sure it was working. It is, and the truck seems to run smoother and quiter with a bit better performance.
It also starts faster and I did not have to prime the fuel filter when changing the filter.
Hopefully I did not add to much wear to the IP etc.
