I have an early 04.5 LLY. In May of 05 the #2 & #7 injector wiring harnss failed. The dealer replaced the complete harness (all 8 cyls) for $1300. under warrantee. Today, some 16 months later the same two injector connectors 2-7 failed. The dealer replaced only the two connectors with GM repair harness' for a total of $620 out of my pocket. The truck's no longer under warrantee.

Is my early LLY gonna need those repairs every 16 months or so??? Is the wiring harness going to be a trouble spot?

I'd guess that they put on the exact same harness that the vehicle came with and did not replace the connectors that were problematic as the GM bulletin is dated Sept 2 2005. I would lean on them hard and politely pointing out that the harness used initially did not address the issues documented in Document ID #1701744 TBS #05-06-04-047A and you feel that this should be covered as it is a known issue.

Failing that, the part number for the kit is 98017958 and the labor allowed for warranty is .9 hrs so it sounds like they stuck it to you for a job that MAY be worth $200 if the Tech is slow. On the plus side, I think the revised connectors have done the trick for those who have had them installed.

P.S. Some times it's necessary to pay a visit to the dealerships general manager...;)

exactly my thoughts... Same thing happend to my lly last dec / feb dealer charged me the 100.00 deductable because it was over 36K but under the 100 K warrenty.

My 04.5 LLY has 54k miles on it. They told me the wiring harness is not covered under the 100k warranty. They also said it never looked like it had been repaired/replaced, so I agree that the 1st time it was done, the harness was replaced by a factory original and so the problem was bound to happen again.

I am now 500 miles from the repairing dealer. I wonder if I can go to my local dealer and speak to the zone rep for relief?

I have the failed connectors and both bills from both dealers 16 months apart.

Hey Kennedy, now that the repair was made with repair kits, you think it is finally resolved?

This is absolutely covered under the 5 year 100k warranty...

Reference the bulletin I mentioned in my earlier post.

I guess GM figures this as 3/36. This makes no sense to me. This should be treated just like a failed sensor on the engine.

Now you should have plenty of ammunition for GM Goodwill warranty:

1) Known condition with GM re: TSB

2) History of issue with this vehicle should be on record with GM warranty

3) Low miles/age of vehicle

Well, I stopped into the local dealer here in Benson, AZ and there is no zone rep to talk to. So I guess now I call customer service from my owners manual?
