While driving along my throttle response suddenly quit. My 6.5 would only idle regardless of throttle pedal position. The "Service throttle light" was on. I coasted to the side of the road, turned off my ignition and restarted. Everything worked fine after that. The "Service throttle light" went out. This is the second time Ive experienced this. Where should I look first to diagnoss ?? Thanks.

Hello
The TPS is made up of three sensors and all must agree. If one fails the PCM will turn on the check throttle light.
If two fail it will shut it down to an Idle.
The engine would run fine with 1 sensor but then there are no fail safes and there could be a dangerous condition so this is why.
The restart resets things and it will go again for a short.
Replace the Pedal assembly and all should be fine.
There are 3 screws holding the unit to the fire wall and the electrical plug/plugs.
Very easy to do and you dont have any worries.
The truck will start right up without any need for a reset or scanner or any other stuff.
Always as a precaution unhook both + battery cables when doing sensitive electrical stuff.
Its truely Plug and Play.
Good luck
