Can dealers include accessories on new trucks (larger exhaust, lift kits, K&N filters), are there rules that say they can't, or is a warantee thing? IMO a dealer could benefit by adding accessories that are common to the particular area, getting a dealer discount and charging a little less then what it would cost for the common people to get it done retail. Or in my case someone who can't see spending extra money for extra things on a new truck but wouldn't even think about it if it would already be on.

just a thought.

Welcome to the Forums!

Many dealers do this. Warranty issues are on them. Even though you purchase a new vehicle, if it has questionable accessories, other dealers may not honor warranty claims. You may be tied to the dealer you purchased from.

Thanks for the welcome and the information. I am also a member of GMI which is how I found this. I was thinking of diesel in 04 when I bought my truck but the cost and the fear due to the lack of knowledge kept me away. Maybe in a few years when it's time to trade this in, we'll see how the consumer gets ripped off with the new ULSD and all the emissions stuff!

Thanks again, enjoy the education.
