I have a 2006 with the 8th didgit in my vin being a 2. So I think this makes my truck a LLY? Is the correct, and what is the difference between the two?
Thanks

VIN 2 is LLY. The difference is essentially only programming.

So there is no noticable difference between the two? It still has the same HP and Tourque as the LBZ?

So in doing some more searching it implies that the LLY is just a detuned LBZ is this true?. Oh and I answered my question above.

... the LLY is just a detuned LBZ is this true?...

Yes. The '06 LLY has all the mechanical and electronic upgrades, just not the tuning for the extra power.

Thanks for the info and sorry to bring up an old topic

What would the digit be for the LBZ? My VIN is 1GCJK33D26F24****. So I take it that the LBZ #8 digit is the D.

Yes, the "D" is the LBZ :)

Would someone please further clarify:

If an LLY is a detuned LBZ, then what is causing the delay in release of programming / boxes (e.g. EFI Live, Predator, Edge ...) for the LBZ. It would appear that if everything is the same, then these products should be available.

Thanks

The difference between the 06's is the programming. Power adder manufacturers adjust the programming, but it still has to be friendly with the original programming. The software changes are quite significant, and just as different as the LB7 to LLY change.

Does that mean I could get a computer from a LBZ and put it in my LLY and it would work?

It's NOT just programming differences.

According to the post it is just programing. I still have everything else that is on there except the extra HP

Re-read the press release. Note particularly where it says "The comprehensive list of changes and upgrades to the 2006 DURAMAX 6600 includes:" referring to the 2006 model year without regard to LLY/LBZ. The '06 LLY's have all the upgraded mechanicals and hardware, just programmed for the same power levels as the '05. (I know this to be true as I have one.) My guess is they were holding back till the end of "employee pricing for everyone". The program ended on Sept 30 and the LBZ showed up on the lots first week of October.

My bet is that if you could find a dealer to load the programming for the LBZ you'd have one, except for the VIN, lock, stock and barrel!

I don't think this really got answered. Problem is the LLY tuners don't work on the '06 LLY, either. The '06 is an LLY only in power levels. By all other measures it's an LBZ, and it's waiting for the LBZ tuners, too.

The LBZ has the new 32 bit Bosch controller where the 2005 and earlier had the 16 bit Delphi computers. That is a huge that the software programmers are having to overcome.

My 06 LLY has the Bosh computer
