I've been selling a lot of my old 6.5 non turbo mechanical pumps P Chassis trucks to buyers that are buy them and scraping the truck and exporting the engines down under to Australia. I having hard time figuring how these buyers are making money there paying 1800.00 us and up on the trucks if you scrap the body and the frame you will get near 1500.00 for the scrap, thats before you look at the labor cost and transportation prices of just moving the trucks. This guy has payed me as much as 750.00 for complete engines none runners mostly bad heads, spun bearings, broken cranks.

A question for are friend from down under is there that big of demand for 6.5 engines running or not running if so what kinda cost are you paying for these engines down there this has just peeked my intrest.

thanks and happy hoildays to all

There are two or three guy's here in South Africa that imports 6.2 / 6.5 diesels from the USA and sell them here. You take it as is for R15,000 ($2100) or running for R20,000 ($2800) reconditioned you add some more.

Redbird, where do you get $1500 scrap value for a body and frame?

Craig I have several salvage yards that try out bidding each other on the alumin all the time I've been getting as high as .77 cent per pound or $1540.00 per ton. they where calling me every monday am with current week price when we where scraping a great number of trucks at a time can be time consuming job. we have to pull the wiring out and all metal bolts take the body off the frame and they take it appox 1900 - 2200 lbs , another 2400 - 3600 in metal so you easly can get 1500.00 out of step van.
