I visited Davis Diesel (http://www.davisdiesel.com) in Spokane, Washington a couple of years ago to do some dyno work for an aftermarket air intake system installation I was involved in. While there, I found out that Jeff Davis (the owner) is a fan of the 6.5, and had been working on a project vehicle of his own - a 1983 GMC.

I just received the most recent newsletter from DD, and was surprised to see a half page discussion and photo about his 83. This section was entitled "Fastest 6.5L Diesel in Town". That phrase caught my eye....

Jeff reports his balanced 6.5 is running with a "special" fuel injection pump built by Advanced Diesel Supply, an HX-40 turbocharger, custom intercooler (charge-air-cooler) located behind the grille and 4L80-E. Jeff is reporting 285-hp to the ground and 20-mpg on the highway. That's cool!

285 Hp to the ground has my undivided attention.
Thats very impressive to say the least.
Does he have any longevity stats as yet.
HP takes fuel and boost and that equals heat, torque, stress and all sorts of things.
This will be very interesting to watch unfold.

Good to hear

I admit I am also curious to how well this motor will stand the test of time and how it will be used.
