View Full Version : Glow plug broken off

My '95 6.5 P-Chassis motorhome is in the shop for a new IP. 5 glow plugs scanned bad, so I authorized replacement of all 8. The tech called today to say that one glow plug had been previously broken off at the base of the hex, and drilling this out would be difficult since there is a big steel body brace in the way. He advised, and I agreed, to leave the broken plug in place, and assume the other 7 glowplugs would be sufficient for starting.

I don't know the exact configuration of a glow plug, and the motorhome is 25 miles away at a dealer so I can't easily view the situation. What's the collective wisdom of the group for this issue?

Thanks...

Nothing wrong with that. Most 6.2/6.5's rolling around today are lucky to have 7 working. Most of the time, you won't notice until you get down to 4 or 5. The EPA doesn't like it, but oh well. You are better off leaving it as-is, than take a chance of making the situation worse. I wouldn't give it a second thought.
