Okay, I have reading some of the posts and saw that the best MPG is at peak torque. I checked and Peak Tq is at 1,700 rpm. My truck doesn't have a tach even though it is standard. My question is, can I go to the local Pick-a-Part and pull an instrument dash panel of out another truck (same model and style) and put it in mine? I don't like having a round tach sticking out from somewhere inside the cab. I have a lot of long road trips coming up withing a month or so and want to try and get a tach in before I start.

You should be able to do that.
I am wondering if the computer will recognise the speedometer.
They have done many hinky things with stuff to keep folks from offing way high milers by changing the instruments.

The dash will fit and it should plug in BUT????????/ try it and see.
