bad short burned off the dip stick

This morning I started my 95 gmc nonturbo 6.5 when I noticed a fire under the hood so I turned the truck off and when I looked under the hood fire was coming out the dip stick which was sparking against the wiper resivior bracket I dont see any wire that could be grounding against the dip stick tube or energizing it and there are no burnt fuses. I smell burnt wires but dont see any .. If you have any helpful insites please let me know thanks

More likely you have a bad or broken ground between the engine and body. The dipstick touching the wiper reservoir was acting as your ground. Check all of your ground wires.
