my '94 6.5t Z71 has been sitting for a year and I just got it to start with some help from a little WD40. The truck is running kinda rough at lower rpm, what can I do to tune it up(fuel additive or fuel filter maybe?). Or is the rough ride from old diesel? Im only 18 and still learning so the help would be very much appreciated.

I have an old '94 with a newer '98 engine that sits all year, waiting for snow.

This winter, after always running smooth as silk - even at cold startup. It was coughing, rattling, bucking, and generally sounding horrible. Things didn't improve even after a few tanks of new fuel.

After carefully checking the label, I decided to add a can of my favorite cleaner - SeaFoam. (It doesn't contain alcohol.) Its a Minnesota product that is failry famous for sorting out marine fuel problems after long winter storages. The next two tanks were treated with a healthy dose of Total Power FPPF that I buy in case quantity from Kennedy Diesel.

This morning, our temps dipped to 12*F. The truck was not plugged in, started easily with one glow cycle, and idled smoothly with no banging or bucking. Must have been plugged injectors. Its back to normal.

Mark,

I have been seeing lots of posts on other forums about Seafoam and how it has helped. But a lot of these guys also report big HP gains from throttle body spacers. So you really had good luck with the stuff? Did you just run it through your fuel system? I have thought about it for the gasser in my CJ, as that thing is still burning lots of oil. I think she has some stuck rings from sitting for a long, long time. I guess I'll have to give that stuff a try.

It works great - especially in gassers. Add to fuel and/or oil. I'd add a can to each if you are thinking stuck rings.

First time I have added to fuel on my diesel. DO NOT add to intake air charge. (Don't ask why I know this.)

SMOKE!!!

I can fumigate the neighborhood.

the seafoam is also suggested for Saturn 4-cyl engines , as the rings seem to get clogged....
