code 81 shift solenoid

Can anyone tell me if the Shift Solenoid is mounted inside the tranny, out side the tranny, or some where else?
Also is there any special tech notes i should known. 94 burb /auto 3/4 ton

all shift noids are inside the 4L80E.
if you check out the noid with a meter, and it checks bad, do yourself a favor, replace the internal wire harness along with a complete set of noids.

thanks, not to long ago i had this problem when i moved my fsd into my cab. I wiggled the wiring harness behind the engine and the fire wall and the problem stopped . this time it has happened twice, once i wiggled the harness, once i shut down and restarted. both worked to corrrect the problem. I guess i need to explore further.
