I'm putting a 6.2 diesel into a short wheelbase 1/2 ton pickup, the truck is very light because it is all fiberglass except for the cab. I'm running a 700r4 transmission with a 2.73 rear end. This pickup will never be used to tow anything its just a daily driver although I do live in Florida and it gets very hot.

Does the 6.2 diesel require an oil cooler or can I leave it off. I would like to eliminate the clutter of hoses and the cooler.

I'm new to diesels and would like your imput...thanks

i'm no rocket scientist, but i can tell you that the oil is the "life's blood" of the engine!! personally i'd leave the cooler!!! the cooler it runs....the longer the life of the oil and the engine!!! enuf said!!! especially in florida!!!

Don't risk it. Lower oil temps = better.

Yes the oil cooler has to be on there if not you will cook the engine from the inside out, I have large fleet of 6.5 in are Minn fleet someone got the bright idea to remove the oil coolers and lines as they keep seeping oil. so they jumpered the cooler at the block so oil was out the outlet and directly back in the inlet made 3" adaptor.

long story short it doesn't get hot they told us in Minn so they won't have problems 24 engines later the light finally went off in someones head my be we are cooking these engines. the last time I was in Minn 2 summers ago it was 98deg that hot to me

Don't run the risk of loosing an engine because of "clutter" run SST line they look good and will prolong engine life.
good luck
