Hey what would happen if I swapped the flex hose coming out of the lift pump to a good rubber line? anyone do this? I'm thinking that maybe the reason for having the flex line in the first place was the path that the lines take... they sneak up over the bellhousing basically maybe the flex was just for protection purposes. I'm thinking I can give this a try, re-route my hoses where they need to go after all the only pressure they need to handle is whats coming from the lift pump. Whaddya think?

I used stainless-steel braided flex line for the front section of both the fuel supply and return lines in Lil Red. Each 1/2" & 3/8" line section is about 4' long. The inner tubing was rated for diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid etc, and carries a high heat tolerance for operating in an engine compartment. Combined, these features add safety and long-term abrasion resistance to the installation. Rubber fuel rated hose would likely work, but not an optimal use of materials.

Thanks i'll keep that in mind I do have some hydraulic flex line, 2 foot sections with 1/2" pipe thread connections on each end. It's also rated for high heat and extreme pressure. Going to give that a shot as the rubber like you said is not high heat resistant.
