Okay, I have a question for the 6.5 gurus on here.:D I am pulling of my box and putting a flatdeck on. When I take the box off I am going to install a set of semi truck air bags. Will be hooked up to reservoir tank and will have onboard compressor with inflate/deflate switch inside the cab. The bags will have a total travel of ten inches. The front suspension is going to get a 6" lift.:D Anyways, with that kind of travel going on, am I going to need to change the driveshaft? So that is my question. I want to have everything set up before the truck goes under the knife.

Moved to the Drivetrain forum...

From my experience with 80's solid front axle 4x4, 4" lift was considered the max before the driveshafts needed to be lengthened, the front driveshaft is usally the first to have problems.

Thanks, wasn't sure where to put this question. So I will probably need to get longer driveshafts both front and back? What about a knuckle in the middle of the back driveshaft?

Does your rear driveshaft have a carrier bearing (2-piece shaft).

If so, you just lengthen the second part (differential side).

No carrier bearing on it. Where would I get such a driveshaft?
