Hi Guys..I'm Moving up from the 6.5TD...

I am in the process of purchasing a 2001 GMC k2500HD Excab Duramax Allison and wanted to know what and if anything I should look at before finalizing this.
It has 155,000 miles and has been serviced properly with records.
No known issues that they can say, and Runs great.
Carfax report is clean as well as report from Autocheck.

Also I am in NJ and the truck is in Denver CO.
I will fly out and drive it home... :)
I will drive Route 70 most of the way until PA then 76 to 81 to 78 to NJ.
If and I hope not, I do have a problem could anyone along the way meet up and help out a member?
Even if I do not and should not, I would still like to chat with anyone for tips and tricks.
I did a lot of work on my 6.5 and love that truck... but who could blame me for making this move on a great deal at 14,900... with New A/T tires and front brakes.

Nice truck. Probably hasn't seen any salt so far - I think they use mostly cinders on the roads in Colorado.rs

Be ready for a water pump soon - both my '01 and '02 needed pumps at about 160 and 180. Low Coolant light will be first indication, but you won't always see a leak present right away.

Has it had injector work? It would be nice to get a fresh set of 8 before it turns 200K...

I do not know if the injectors had been replaced but I sure am going to find out as well as the water pump.

My trip out there will be on march 5th by air and leaving by 1pm to drive home to NJ.
I am leaving for Hawaii on Feb 17 and returning on March 3rd so I will not be able to do any replies after this friday the 16th.

Most dealerships will run the VIN for free, and tell you of any warranty work that has been done. Have a safe trip!

I called my dealer and he did a search using the vin# and the Injectors were replaced at 143000 miles, fuel filter at 10/5/05, injector pump twice in 2002, PCM trans update at 58000. He has more and is going to fax it to me.
Nice to have a local dealer who want to help you out (and keep your business..lol).

So I should have no worries I can drive this almost 1800 miles back home...
