My truck is a light duty 3/4 ton and I am finding the springs a bit soft for towing. I last towed with a 94 HD 3/4 ton and found the springs to be better.

Is it a simple case of finding 1 ton springs for a short box and swapping them in for what I have?

All the springs are the same length 63 inch and will bolt in, 88-98 and 88-00 in the 3/4 and 1 tons.

I have a 1 ton single rear wheels with what the dealer called "comfort ride spring stack" This allows the truck to ride like a 3/4 ton with no load but when loaded still handles everything like it should. I have had some LARGE load both in the back and on the hitch and have NO complaints. Also it rides REAL nice. Also I think there is a company that makes a product called Velvet-ride spring shackels. These are a great product but I've never needed them with this truck.
Hope this helps

Next dumb spring question. I called a local wrecker who has a few sets for ~$250 Cdn.

He wants to know if I want 5,6 or 7 leaf for the 2500 or 6,7 or 9 leaf for the 3500. He also had a 10 leaf for the 3500 but says they are a different width.

Am I correct in thinking the more leafs will give a beter unloaded ride?

How many leafs in your current spring? Personally, I'd add buy the set from a used 2500 with one additional leaf over what you currently run. The one ton springs will ride rougher unloaded.

Dlvdog - how many springs in your 'comfort ride' stack, not counting the heavy cast-looking piece at the bottom of the stack that stops flattening.

My truck has 5 leafs. I checked the window sticker and it listed them as "dual stage RR leaf springs" in the standard equipment. But then it also has a towing package so who knows what was installed with that. I should call and get the VIN RPO codes. Anyways that what my truck has and rides REAL nice, but then it is 24' long and just under 9,000lbs
