The marketing for the aftermarket aluminum pans stress the additional 3 to 4 quarts of oil they provide. Since a 4L80E is close to 16 qts to start with, an additional 4 quarts is about a 25% increase in volume. Nice, but not huge. They also say aluminum is a better disipator of heat than steel. The stock thin steel transmision pans seem to be hot in use and can dissipate some heat. None of the manufactures of larger aluminum pans provide any hard data on temperature reduction, just they presume you will take it on faith their product is better than stock. Anyone have some real word data on these?

No thoughts on this topic? I'm guessing these pans are as more for the "bling" than for heat reduction. They do look nice.

just a thought but for the price of a Al pan would you not be able to put on a second cooler? I would think that would be more cooling for the buck.
