I just bought a 98 K2500 with 214000KMS. I have been picking up the parts(glow plugs, controller, injectors) so that they can be changed.

Everyone including the parts guys are saying why, is the truck running wrong. Going by the books that I have read and the forum here I am on the right path.

Do most pepole wait until something catatrosphic happens?

I have two glowplugs out on the left bank. I haven't taken anything off on the right bank but I figure to change everything while you are in there.

How much book time to R&R the injectors and glow plugs.

Most people wait until something catastophic happens. I don't think the people on this board are "most people" though...

1.5 hrs on the plugs and 4.6 on the injectors, according to the 1998 K3500 alldatadiy manual.

The problem with waiting for something to happen are two-fold. The first is that nothing ever fails in your driveway. A failure will surely leave you stranded. The second is that if you let something go, it may fail and take something else with it. Plus it is always easier to fix or maintain on your time instead of the trucks time
