Hey All

I have just installed a 6.5lt into my Toyota Land Cruiser tray top down here in Australia. The engine is Naturally/as at the moment but I am considering putting a turbo on it. (Engine is a turbo spec motor) What kind of power and torque would I expect to get out of it and how much boost can I jam into it before it say no more. It will be intercooled.

Cheers

Craig.

About 190HP with stock turbo and turbo spec on the IP
You can bump it up a little but to really get some power you will need to after cool it.
Radiator is a consideration too. With more HP comes more heat.
Heat kills these things if allowed to get out of hand.

1000F on the exhaust temp and try and keep the coolant at or below 200F

Cooling has been a big issue already. I've had to run a second radiator under the tray to try and keep it cool. As the standard Toyota radiator just ain't big enough. Also what kind of oil pressure do these run, and how can I tell what year the engine is.

Home Made Jet?!?!?!? Holy cow!!! You're asking US questions!!! WE should be picking your brain!!! :D

Torque on the 6.5 turbo is around 385lb/ft stock.

Oil pressure.... While using petroleum oil, pre-97 model year engines produce about 45 psi while cruising at 2000 rpm and 20-25 at idle. 97 and newer engines run a little less due to piston oil spray cooling, about 35-40 psi while cruising and 15-20 at idle. Synthetic oil usually raises oil pressure about 5 psi across the board.

Ah my engine must be a 97 onwards as the oil pressure is about the same as you just quoted. Not alot of oil pressure really. Would of liked it to be a little higher. When I get back home i'll have a look at the block and see if the marking on mine match any thing that is in that link.
