We have a 99 f-350 super duty at work with extended cab and it is also 4-wheel drive.

My boss claims that it weighs 9,800 lbs. empty and that is why it seems slower than my 6.5. Is this right?

I have 78 chevy K30 dump truck and it only weighs 7,000 lbs. Although it is gas and not diesel.

My 01 PSD, crew cab, short bed, 4X4 (single axle) weighed in just at tad over 7550 lbs with 1/2 tank of fuel. Seems he's a bit on the heavy side.

My 99 F-350, extended cab 4x4 weighed a little over 7,000 lbs. empty when I had it weighed to get registered. (I'm assuming we're talking about single rear wheel). The GWR is 9,900, so if the truck actually weighed 9,800 lbs empty, it would be overloaded with just a driver.

The only rear end ratio available in the 1999 single rear wheel F-350 Powerstroke is 3.73. If your 6.5 has a 4.10 rear end, it'll seem quicker from a standstill. My 99 Suburban with the 6.5 has a 4.10 rear end, and only weighs about 5,500 lbs. It seems quicker from a standing start. When attached to my 2-horse trailer, there's no comparison -- the F-350 pulls it like it's not there, whether on flat ground or uphill. The Suburban just pulls it.

The ford at work does have dual rear wheels. It also has a 4.10 rear end just like my Chevy. I think he is taking the gvw to be how much it weighs. I don't think he really ever had it weighed.
