Hello all, need to know if anyone has any knowledge about this particular swap.

Swapping a 78 K10 Dana 44 rear/10 bolt front under my 1982 blazer with 10 bolt front/rear.

Is there any differences between the 10 bolt and 44 rear housing that will create problems with my driveshaft lenght or anything expensive like that? I've been told is almost a straight bolt on job, but my experience has always been that nothing in life is ever a straight bolt on job.

Thanks all,

Martin

When I did mine, I installed new caliper brackets. I found that the bracket has a tab that that the Dana 44 knuckle did not have a slot for. I used a grinder and ground into the knuckle to create a slot for the tab to rest into.
What the tab is for I don't know , maybe I could have just cut it off.
The rest of the installation was a direct swap.

I think the taper on the drag-link/steering arm is different. You will need 2 different ends on your drag-link if you want to tighten the nut.

If I think back you should have a dana 44 front and a corp 12 bolt rear. It's not a hard swap do what Dieal65 said. If it a 12 bolt you will have to use a different u-joint on the drive shaft at the rear end. Check this post over at Ck5
