I'm not aware of any problems with this. Everything seems to be working properly. There are several ways to get photos in your posts on the forum, and different rules apply to each method.
The 39K only applies to images attached to a post. Meaning, an image is actually inserted in a post, linear. If you need to attach a file larger than that, you will have to use the TDP Photo Album (http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/photopost), or link it from your photo album hosted outside TDP. If you try to upload these "outside" images into a post as an attachment, the 39K applies. All this is necessary to secure the copyrights of TDP images (and your images uploaded into TDP Photo Album), and to remain friendly with our "bandwidth challenged" viewers. Large linear photos really slow down page loading with dial-up users. This feature allows users to disable the loading of images/files at their discretion, wholistically, or according to size. Linear photos in a post cause issues with some individual software environments.
If you attach or link a photo from TDP Photo Album and you are seeing a "generic .jpg", you are either not logged in, not logged in properly (old URL), and/or have cookie permission issues. TDP Photo Album photos can only be viewed if you are logged in properly, and have permission to view images from the photo album, even if the photos are linked outside TDP (or if you have viewed the image before, and have it cached on your system). All TDP users that are logged in properly should be able to view the images. There are no original images posted in TDP that are considered "public domain", although the majority of the internet users believe otherwise. Much misunderstood realm of the www. Copyrights are implied, not expressed, regardless of markings.
If you are having issues with any of this, please forward your concerns to me. I'll do what I can to straighten it out.
Can anyone see this ? ? ? ? ?
OK, there it is, downsized to 37K.

Once you've uploaded your images to PhotoPost, save the image URL to your clipboard, then begin a new post.
http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/photopost/data/500/Image1.jpg
Click the little picture icon on the toolbar - as shown above.
http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/photopost/data/500/Image2.jpg
A window will open allowing you to enter the URL address where your pic is located. Once clicking OK, the pic will appear in your post.
Hint: If your image is larger than 600 x 600, you'll see the subdirectory "medium" in the URL.
Remove that subdirectory from the address line to get the full-size image into your post.

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to resize a pic? Mine are 316KB,which i have to assume is bigger than 100K which is the max size to post i belive. As you can tell i'm not much of a computer person, havn't found the cable that alows me to interface with them yet.We were forced into highspeed internet last month, pretty disapointed. All kinds of hype of making everything faster, but my typing is still one peck at a time.
Thanks Thomas

Some people have had a problem staying logged in or using Photopost, which was due to an address issue.
You should be logging in using the URL address:
http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/tdpforum
Using the numeric IP address doesn't keep you logged in.
i.e. http://72.22.76.69/tdpforum
Resizing images..... You'll need an image program. I don't use the programs included with Windows - they might have that capability - I don;t know. I use a variety of image programs (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Publisher Pro Photo Editor, etc.) If you can't size your images, send them to me as an email attachment. Be patient... :)

If you use TDP Photo Album (http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/photopost), it will automatically resize them for you once uploaded. Up to 3 sizes (thumbnail, medium, and full) may be made, according to the size of your original. Once an image is uploaded into your photo gallery, it will display the ideal URL to use for forum posting, and prevent you from breaking the size rules. 316K should not be a problem with the photo album.
