How is the waste gate controled on the mechanical engines. If spring controled what does the spring work against?

It's purely mechanical, just a spring in the canister, set at approx 6-7psi.

These are the trucks that need a turbomaster the most.

The spring holds the WG closed against exhaust backpressure, against the turbine (exhaust side of turbo). The spring tension will determine the exhaust backpressure required to open the WG. Higher spring/backpressure value = higher boost pressure (to a point).

Ever hear of performance springs with more tension?
More tension/more power, right?

Can this be modified for more boost for a resonable price?
