quick question: installing the oil pump driver (the shaft that drops in from the top), my manual says to use a gasket, but I didn't pull one out of the old engine and there isn't one that fits from the gasket kit that came with the rebuild. Does it need one?

I tried to search for this question, but had a hard time because "oil pump drive" in search matches any post with the individual keywords.. is there a way of searching for exact phrases on this forum?

The oil pump drive can be RTV'd in place, just put a ring of RTV on the bottom lip of the drive and position it in the hole till it aligns and drops down. Install retainer clip with bolt and you're done. This is the ONE spot on these engines that's VERY unlikely to leak oil, go figure right?
