I've read some reference to high pop injectors causing injector pump cam ring damage and failures............Since I run high pops and just changed out IP because of cam ring failure I'm thinking the new IP will not last for very long.

I've been running high pops for over 80,000 miles. Haven't noticed anything bad yet.

The fellow that rebuilts my pumps was telling me that the camring and rollers are identical to what is used in some John Deere pumps, and the pop pressure on these injectors can run up to 3000 psi. so don't worry.

There's very little difference between stock and "high pop" injectors as far as the pump is concerned. Your failure was either coincidence, or the pump was on the edge of failure, and just got a little push over the edge. I've not seen accelerated wear with pop pressures well over what is being marketed as "high pop". John Deere is a good example.

GM chose the lower pressure range for warranty reasons, as there had been some indication of early DS4 roller\camring failure, as the rollers were of roller-bearing steel, and which proved correct as multiple failures swamped service departments, with metal particles in the pump, filter, and fuel tank.

A 'green-tag' upgrade included ceramic rollers, which effectively eliminated the roller\camring failures.

While the DB2 was used in some 4- and 6-cylinder farm tractors, they are somewhat rpm limited and may run the same low rpm all day long, unlike the DS4\6.5 rpm range of 600-3500rpm, with continual variation anywhere in between.

Altho the higher pressure is harder on the Ip and the injector pintles, I think the newer IP's will survive the hi-pops if you maintain adequate levels of lubricity in the new fuels.

I maybe going overboard w/adding lube to fuel but it makes me feel better.

Thanks for the input guys, as always this site has been a big help!
