i was wondering if you can tune a 6.5 ob2 with efi live? if not what is the best was to get power out of the computer.?

OBD2 6.5 EFI is primitive - the IP is purely mechanical, with a PCM-controlled solenoid that closes\opens a passage to begin and end the injection event.

EFI live would be the equiv of hooking up a PC to read the electrical output of the temperature sending unit for the temperature gage.

Upgraded fuel curves are available in eprom for OBD1 and re-flash for OBD2.

Wester's offers a professional pc-ware tuning program for shop and amateur - do a search for Programmer or look at the top of the page for the link to their site.

You can totally retune your 6.5 with our software. It's actually not that primitive--there are a few more things to add, but not much is going to
needed in addition to what we've already got in the programming software.

Over 300 tuneable parameters at the moment--here's a partial list:

As far as the origional question goes, no you can't use EFILive to tune a 6.5 with. You can use the scantool function IIRC.

I find all this electronic equipment absoulutely facinating.
The things that the computer can do are marvelous compared to what we had only a very few years ago.

My only complaint is it always seems that when the stuff quits Im not in a place thats handy.

I currently have a Ford Explorer that we inherited and it took to quiting at inoportune times and no one can seem to figure out why. No codes just no run and then all is well and its a crap shoot as to when it will go way again.

Is the technology really doing us a service or have we become a slave to it.

I commend the folks who have perfected these diagnostic programs as this takes hard work and time to do.

I still have to ask are we better off??

Lyndon

Keep up the good work

:D That's why i have a '93 with the 4911 IP. Don't have to mess with that, and i'm an industrial controls engineer. :D
