My 93 2500 has 4.10 gears. I would like to change the differential for one with 3.42 gears. what year trucks are interchangable? Are the u joints the same as well?

I have a '93 rear axle with 3.42 gears and locking differential for sale. It only has 50,000 miles on it. Where are you located? Sorry, nothing for the front. As far as I know, the U-joints are all the same.

I am located in Edmonton Alberta so it is probably not going work but thank you.

I live in Stony Plain, so I am a half hour away. As to gears, does the truck have a Full Floating Axle? If it does, you can easily swap the pinion gear and ring gear to get a higher ratio. Send me a PM and we'll see what we can set up. If it is a FFR, there is no problem getting you a 3.42 setup.

Greetings 6.5 Detroit Diesel. I actually live in Spruce Grove. I have never checked if I have a FFD. I will look and get back to you.

Okay, so you are really close. Might have seen your truck. What is the color? Mine is the grey one with a ton of running lights and big tires. Anyways, I was thinking further. Just let me know if it is 6 or 8 bolt axles. If it is 8 bolt that is all I need to know. If it is 6 bolt, count the number of bolts on the diff cover. Thanks....;)

Hi 6.5
My truck has the 8 bolt wheels
My truck is a 2 tone blue extended cab long box with ugly stock steel wheels.

The only question is, is the axle a FF 10 1/2 or is it a 9 1/2 ring gear. If it is the FF 10.5 diff the end of each axle will have eight bolts holding it in place inside the wheel lug bolts.

I am still working on setting up a set of 3.42's for you. I need to know if the axle has bolts. Also I need to find the size of the front end diff. I know the older trucks (80's) had a 8 1/2 inch, but I don't know what was in the 6.5's. Any help from anyone out there?
