Wife,s 95 started ok last night, stalled right away. fired up again but took longer, ran fine after. this morning same thing happened.

Before this morning start i checked liftpump operation, Is OK , no air in IP returnline, I have a clear line on it.

No code set

Lift pump , fuel filter and remote mounted new PMD installed a few month,s ago.
about 7000 km on it.

I forgot to test lift pump out put,[ Wife was in a hurry to leave] Darn woman has no patience.

Impending IP failure ? pump has seen around 180.000 km go by.

I can fix anything mecanical, electronics is a diff matter, grrrr. I hates you gremlins.

Simon-
What were conditions when starting....
was engine hot , after sitting turned off for less than an hour?
were both 'last night' and 'this morning' cold starts?
were these the first two starts following a fuel fill?

>Lift pump , fuel filter and remote mounted new PMD installed a few month,s ago.
-All above are known to fail prematurely

>Impending IP failure ? pump has seen around 180.000 km go by.
Iff hot starts , maybe so.

For '95 a new ignition switch is in order , if it has beyond 75K Mi .
For '95 a relay in the LP power feed saves/preserves the OPS and LP.

If you've not yet serviced the connections for the engine electric harness ground at the rear of the psgr side head by trans dipstick ... another good thing to do. This ground serves the LP; during cranking when system voltage drops , the LP voltage may dip tooo low.

Also if cold starts some chance the preglow was inadequate(?).

Starts where both cold starts
I have my own fuel tanks, farm. filled up 3 days ago.

All connections where checked and found in good order at the time when new pmd was installed.

OPS is good .checked it. I will instal relay soon.

Glowplugs and controller are checked and good. I also have extra glow bypass for really cold wheater. All done at same time as above mentioned PMD change

Truck lits right of after initial cycle but dies 3 sec later, next start is with glow bypass, but takes a few more cranks before fireup. Then no issues.

Hot starts are OK.

I will check lift pump for output first thing in the morning.

This gremlin started out of the blue yesterday.

Found problem, Intermittent ops failure.

this engine dies when there is no fuel pressure

Good work on OPS diagnosis...

>>Hot starts are OK.
I was tempted to suggest maybe PCM (or connections) were intermittent cold...
