Hi, I am building an engine for my 1997 suburban diesel. One of my vendors supplies the military with 6.5 parts so I picked up a new block, heads, crank, cam, etc. from him. Balanced the lower end, installed, low compression pistons, timing gears, fliud damper, and all the other stuff to make the engine run well. OK, heres what I need to know on the stats there are air vents, I assume thy go up, but you never know. After all this work and $$ it would not be good if the engine got damaged because I installed the stats worng. Also, I am towing with this truck, is there a better temp stat then 195?

Thanks

Welcome to the 'Page, 'jon.........

Do a search here for '97 cooling upgrades - you'll need them for towing and such -

dual t-stat crossover
HO 130gph waterpump
lower-temp fan clutch
Dmax fan blade

Try it - you'll like it...............

Ditto good advice above.

Suggest call 'John' at Kennedy Diesel. He stocks Robert Shaw thermos 185/195*F , and the goodies GMCTD mentioned (above post) , and can give valuable advice about commerecial/towing service.

You have installed a gauge setup , yes??

PS , sounds like nice motor job.
